Rhema Still with Mavin Records
Reports are all over social media of the purported exit of afrorave superstar Rema from Mavin Records owned by Don Jazzy. Rema whose full name is Divine Ikubor is from Edo state Nigeria. He had been rumoured since January 2026 to be nursing plans of leaving the Mavin Records due to alleged issues surrounding discontent over his contract and current earnings. Reports claimed his salary/revenue share was increased by 5% to encourage him to stay. But these remain largely unconfirmed rumors. Since late 2025 up till January 2026 rumours were awash that Rema had terminated his contract to start his own empire know as “Rave Records,” but Rema and officials of Mavin records have repeatedly clarified that he is still signed to the label. In responses to these rumors, Rema has reportedly stated he has “no plans of leaving” and values the mentorship of Don Jazzy.

Mavin records are in partnership with Jonzing World and Interscope Records to manage the Rema brand.
Official sources indicate that if a new label called “Rave Records,” were in the offing it would likely be a collaborative deal similar to how Jonzing World operates under Mavin, rather than a full exit. In 2024 Universal Music Group (UMG)
acquiree a majority stake in Mavin Global and this has triggered ongoing discussions about the restructuring of major artist contracts within the label.
Rema (Divine Ikubor) is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper known for pioneering a distinct subgenre of Afrobeats called “Afrorave”. His music is a versatile fusion of several genres, characterized by dark, melodic, and high-energy sounds. Known for high-pitched, melodic vocals and “hypnotic” or “sultry” tracks.
Key Elements of Rema’s Music include Afrorave; Coined by Rema, this style blends traditional Afrobeats with influences from trap, electronic music, and, at times, Arabian and Indian musical elements. Beyond Afrorave, his sound frequently incorporates elements of Afropop, trap, R&B, and hip-hop.
Rema rose to fame in 2019 with his hit single “Dumebi” and solidified his global presence with the record-breaking hit “Calm Down”.
